Viraaj
About This Spot
Stepping into Viraaj feels like entering a comfortable nook of Woodseats where the day’s pace gently slows and invites you to savor the moment. The warm glow of soft lighting and welcoming smiles create an atmosphere that charms without fuss, where conversations flow easily under the hum of quiet excitement. It’s a place where the simple pleasure of sharing a meal takes center stage, whether you arrive for a casual evening or a special occasion.
The space strikes a balance between cozy and spirited, with subtle touches of color and texture that hint at the rich Indian heritage behind the flavors on each plate. Though nestled on a busy road, inside Viraaj, you find a refuge that feels both alive with quiet energy and thoughtfully relaxed, supported by attentive staff who make you feel like a familiar guest rather than a visitor.
Dining here is less about ticking boxes and more about discovery—whether it’s the comforting creaminess of a curry that gently builds warmth or the vibrant contrasts of a well-curated pickle tray that invite playful tasting. The kitchen’s rhythms reveal themselves through shared plates like a thali, where each element is a small story of spice and tradition, crafted with care. You might find the heat of a jalfrezi sneaking up pleasantly, or the tender pull of slow-cooked lamb that welcomes you to linger a little longer.
Viraaj is a local gem that embraces the quiet joy of authentic flavors paired with genuine hospitality. It’s the kind of place where meals become moments, and where the welcoming atmosphere encourages you to settle in, share a laugh, and look forward to the next visit.

We booked for Christmas day. We've been meaning to go here for a while. It was incredible The meat was so tender. The masala was creamy. I can't fault any of it. Fantastic staff. Very cheerful and helpful. The jalfrezi especially was unreal. It's hot so be careful I will be back for a lot more

Went here last night with my brother and his teenage daughters who live in Australia. We wanted to give the girls an authentic Indian restaurant experience and were seeking a restaurant to hit the spot on atmosphere, food quality and service. This place made it on all counts - highly recommend. Everything was perfect

Great quality food at a reasonable price. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Restaurant itself had nice decor. It's on a very busy road though and parking can be difficult.

Went here as a walk in not pre booked but there was lots of space and we were seated straight away. Good selection of curry’s and a really helpful waiter who was able to suggest suitable options. I had a lamb dish which was lovely and flavoursome although a bit more heat would have been even better. Good service, good pickle tray too and not skimped on. Good value at less than £20 a head for a drink, main, rice and naan and poppadoms.

I booked our work do here to have on Saturday 13th December, so obviously a busy time of the year. From the point of booking, to the pre orders, to the arrival and the dining, it was superb. Fantastic staff, organisation the British army would be proud of and absolutely superb food. I had never been to Viraaj before but will definitely now be a regular, any place that caters for 18 people perfectly when they are already full has definitely got something right. Thank you
